Aaron Schaben, Carson Group’s divisional president of partners, is leaving the firm at the end of the year to be CEO of founder Omani Carson's family office.

A spokesperson for Carson Group confirmed the development through a written statement shared Tuesday with ThinkAdvisor.

“At the beginning of the year, Aaron Schaben … will move into a new role in the Carson community as CEO of the Carson Family Office,” the statement reads. “This is an exciting step in Aaron’s career, one that keeps him closely connected to Carson Group while filling a valuable role for our founder and the Carson family.”

The news comes a few days after Carson Group President Teri Shepherd revealed that she plans to step down from the role at the end of March, and some eight months after the firm’s founder and longtime CEO, Omani Carson, was replaced by the firm’s former chief strategy officer, Burt White.

At that time, Carson (formerly known as Ron Carson) said he hoped to spend "more time to further his family's humanitarian impact and champion initiatives such as feeding the hungry, providing clean water and supporting mental health."

Schaben’s tenure as a Carson Group divisional president began in late 2011. In 2018, at age 32, he was named executive vice president; the CEO called him his "apparent successor."

"His nickname around the office is 'Baby Einstein,'" Carson told ThinkAdvisor at the time. "He is one of the smartest, most driven people I know."

Before joining Carson Group, Schaben briefly served as an executive assistant at the manufacturing and distribution company Conklin. Prior to that, he was a wealth advisor within the Carson Wealth Management Group.
